Lynn Ward is the Founder and Firm Leader of Ward Law LLC, where she has dedicated her career to guiding individuals and families through some of life’s most complex transitions with clarity, compassion, and confidence. Since founding the firm in 2005, Lynn has built Ward Law into a respected family law practice serving clients throughout Kansas.
Lynn graduated with honors from Pensacola Christian College in 1987 with a bachelor’s degree in Prelaw and earned her Juris Doctor from Washburn University School of Law in 1990. She was among the first Kansas attorneys certified in collaborative family law, helping to shape alternative dispute resolution options in the state.
Her legal experience is both deep and diverse. Lynn has argued family law appeals before the Kansas Court of Appeals and the Kansas Supreme Court, handled criminal jury trials in both state and federal courts, and written and argued appellate briefs before the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. This breadth of experience allows her to confidently represent clients whether a matter is resolved through negotiation, collaboration, or litigation.
Lynn’s practice focuses on financially sophisticated divorce cases, particularly those involving professionals, complex assets, business valuations, and agricultural interests. She is equally comfortable in the courtroom and at the negotiating table, tailoring her approach to what best serves each client’s long-term goals.
Lynn is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), an honor reserved for attorneys who demonstrate the highest level of skill, integrity, and professionalism in family law. She previously served on the AAML Board of Governors and currently serves on the AAML Foundation Board of Directors.
In addition to her legal leadership, Lynn is deeply committed to community service. She serves on the Exploration Place Board of Trustees, is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Wichita and served as its President during 2006–2007. She was honored a Sustainer of the Year in 2025.
Lynn grew up on a farm south of Clay Center, Kansas, where her family raised cattle and farmed various crops—an upbringing that instilled in her a strong work ethic and appreciation for agricultural and family-owned assets. She and her husband, Dale, moved to Wichita in 1990 and have enjoyed successful legal careers there for more than three decades.
Outside of her professional work, Lynn considers herself a “great aunt in every sense of the word” and finds her greatest joy in mentoring two young women who came to the United States as refugees from Tanzania.
